Description : The prehistoric site of Mezraa Teleilat is located on the left bank of the Euphrates, in the province of Urfa, in the south-eastern part of Turkey. Its last phase of occupation dates back to the Iron Age , and there has been unearthed a large construction dating from the Neo-Assyrian period. Before this period, the site remained unoccupied for several millennia since the next level of occupation, the most important of the mound, belongs to the Neolithic . The importance of this establishment lies in the fact that it admirably illustrates a period so far little known in the Near East, that of the transition between the pre-ceramic and ceramic stages of the Neolithic period thanks to a well-preserved architecture .
